Dear Tropical Storm Dolly,

Go the hell away.  I fly out of here on Friday, and you will not stop me.  If I have to drive to Houston to make the flight, I will.  Don't test me.

I'm going to Europe, and no measley tropical storm is going to stand in my way.  So fuck off.

I was very happy today, as in 1 week I'll be heading off to Europe (squee!) and be off of work for 2 glorious weeks!  I stopped after work to pick up tickets to the baseball game, then took the long-ish way home.

This was a mistake.

Aside from my horrendous sunburn, Europe Fund Garage Sale-a-palooza went well yesterday--made about $200, which I was amazed by since we didn't have any "big" items--no furniture, little electronics, etc.

Well, I didn't get the online video job.  I'm not terribly upset about it, though, as unless I negotiated my salary quite well it was going to be a pay cut...  And my applying spurred my manager to offer me another job in sales that would potentially pay more.  Plus, if I get a video camera, I can do freelance work and still get internet video ( Read more... )

We now have our hotels for Paris AND London, and will be staying with friends the rest of the two weeks.

I'm making our flight and train reservations tonight once Gram calls me back, so we can get from London to Basel to Luzern, from Luzern to Paris, and from Paris back to Birmingham.

Going to Switzerland!!

My grandmother heard from her friend in Luzern (or Lucerne, depending on who you ask), who has welcomed us to stay with them!

So thus far our trip looks something like this:
July 26 - Leave Indianapolis
July 27 - Arrive Birmingham & crash with friends in Leicester.  Desperately attempt to stave off jet lag.

Since the front came in this weekend, it's been absolutely BEAUTIFUL.  In the 50s overnight, low 80s during the day and very little wind make for perfect biking weather!  I rode to work this morning and it was so nice I decided to take Ocean most of the way home--not a cloud in the sky, nice blue ocean-meets-sky horizon...*happy sigh*  I did get a ( Read more... )
